About The Red River Poets

Artwork by David Rowland

The Red River Poets are Abigail Wyatt, Duncan Yeates and Craig Taylor-Broad. We have three very distinctive voices but we are united by two beliefs; firstly, we believe that there is a place in ‘performance poetry’ for serious poetry, that is, work that resists the constant pull towards the comic; and, secondly, that literature in general and poetry in particular can flourish in the Redruth, Pool and Camborne areas.  It seems to us that for too long it’s been all about Penwith and Falmouth. Don’t mistake our meaning. We like those places. We visit them regularly.  What we don’t like is the assumption, still too frequently made, that we live in a cultural desert and the idea that there is nothing in Redruth to make it worth the drive. Actually, there is lots going on, especially at The Melting Pot Cafe,  and the Red River Poets Poetry Collective is by no means a ‘closed shop’.  If you write poetry and you live hereabouts we would be delighted to hear from you. E mail: abiwyattat[usetheusualsign]yahoo.co.u and I will aim to get back to you within three or four days.
